How to Reset Windows Mobile Device to Factory Settings

Windows Mobile devices are provided with an option to reset the device to factory settings. This means the mobile will be restored to a session when you purchased it, without any customizations. This is handy in case you messed up some system files or installed any non compatible application which caused errors on your mobile.

To reset the mobile to factory settings;

1. Open Settings from the menu and select the System tab. Here you can see an option called “Clear Storage”.

2. Open Clear Storage and here you can permanently delete all of your data and reset all settings to manufacturer default. You will need to enter the word ‘1234’ in the box below.

Please note that restoring to factory settings means all the data and programs on the device will be deleted, including ringtones and applications you have purchased and installed. You might be able to restore programs and email settings using Windows Mobile Device Center or ActiveSync. Take a back up of all your personal files before resetting.
