AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • It reads Tweets being posted in the local area of your choosing.

Cons

  • It reads Tweets being posted in the local area of your choosing.
  • Rather creepy app.

Features:

I have to say up-front that I find this app a bit creepy. Without a Twitter account/sign in or following anyone, it automatically pulls all the tweets being posted in a geographical area and reads them to you. Out loud. You can choose either an American or British accent for the woman reading the tweets, and you can either let it pick up your local area, or you can choose to listen to another area of the world. It’s like cyber voyeurism.

Usefulness:

Even if you’re a big tweeter, and you want to use this to get the pulse of a local area, the novelty of it wears off rather fast, and to be honest, the robotic voice gets a little irritating. It also drains your battery unless you specifically “quit” the program, so that’s something to be aware of.

Ease of Use:

It’s very easy to use. When you start it up, it will automatically find your location and start reading you tweets from that area. You can go in and adjust the settings, including how wide a radius you want it to look for tweets and what geographic location you want to pull from.

Frequently Used:

I can see this as being a neat party trick app, or even something you would use in a new area to get a feel for the local flavor. But after once or twice, it probably won’t be used again.

Interface:

The interface is very easy to use, just open it up and it starts going.
